in the camera department at best buy.
people are clueless!
That's like asking why the guy at the Chevy dealership doesn't know about F1 car technology... or some other clever analogy.
All the stores are like that...
Fine, asshole. I was just trying to help out an OTer, but if you know so much, next time don't ask me for any help with your iSew shit or whatever. I don't think Apple even makes a camera. Like I told you, the more megapixels, the better the camera. It's pretty damn simple. Why do you think they cost more? Fuckin know-it-alls.
I had a guy in Ritz tell me the D90 was superior to the D300 because it does video. He was serious.
Yeah, well I thought that was the case, and you got me fired when you went and complained to my boss, you prick. Now I'm stuck working at fucking Best Buy.
I don't think knowing anything about the department you work in is a prerequisite at BBY.
If they knew, they wouldn't be salespeople
Because people who go to BestBuy to buy cameras are fucking retarded and do not require savvy sales people.
A ritz employee told me that dx lenses don't have a crop factor on crop bodies. Only full frame lenses have the crop factor...
they only exist to ring up your sale. Anything more is just window dressing to provide the illusion of service.
whats wrong with getting a camera at best buy? price match, great place to try out cameras, etc. expecting knowledge is one thing, but it's not a bad place to buy if the price is right.
In college I sold cameras at CC and people were always blown away that I knew what I was talking about .
Person - "Which one of these big ones should I get?"
Me - "Well when you buy one of those you buy into the whole brand's family of lenses and future bodies. They each have their strengths and weaknesses but you should be safe with either Canon or Nikon as both are industry leaders and have an extensive selection of lenses for future upgrades."
was fun though. I enjoyed really getting into photography discussions with people who had a clue. The good old days Too bad I couldnt make a living doing that
Could be that Best Buy isn't a camera store... they're a big brick and mortar electronics store. You want someone who knows about camera's stop shopping at places you can also buy washers, TV's, PC's, CD/DVD, vacuum cleaners and car audio and start shopping at dedicated pro shops.
because they're minimum wage retail lackeys whose sole purpose is to upsell you on extended warranty plans to make profit for the store?
yeah I guess this is true but I ask them something like "do you have the T1i in yet?" and they respond with something like "is that something to do with the terminator? who makes that?" at least know a little something about which products you have i guess...
Because they work at best buy, for starters. Their qualifications of working in the camera department boils down to "have you ever held a DSLR?" "why yes, yes i have" ok, you're going to sell cameras.
"do you know what a camera does?"
The guys at my local store know a little bit about what they're talking about, so i gave them the benefit of the doubt
I went in there looking for the 70-200f2.8. The guy pulls out the 70-300 for me.
ME: No no, I wanted the 70-!2!00.
BB: I know, but this one is better, AND cheaper
ME: How is it better?
BB: You get a much bigger zoom range and since Nikon was a lot more efficient with this lens, it's also a lot less expensive
ME: How fast is it?
BB: It'll take the picture as fast as the camera can (then proceeds to look at me like I'm a dumbass)
these BB douches are easy to troll...but there's no sport in shooting fish in a barrel.
It's like playing a trick on the Special Ed class in highschool. Easy, but no satisfaction.
