Mar 16, 2009 9:05 am US/Eastern Victim Of 'Errant' Bow-And-Arrow Attack Recovering 51-Year-Old Denise Delgado-Browne In Stable Condition At St. Barnabas Hospital BRONX (CBS) ― http://wcbstv.com/topstories/bow.arrow.attack.2.960007.html A Bronx woman is recovering Monday morning after a bizarre bow and arrow attack landed her in the hospital. Police are searching for the unknown archer whose 30-inch arrow pierced the stomach of 51-year-old Denise Delgado-Brown outside a nursing home in the Riverdale section of the Bronx on Sunday. Delgado-Brown had just arrived at the nursing home. Moments after stepping out of her red SUV, she was struck by what police describe as a round-tipped arrow. "[She was] getting out of the car – and the arrow came in seconds," friend Donna Hubbard says. Hubbard and Olga Rivera were with Delgado-Brown when the attack occurred. The three had attended services at a Yonkers church, and Delgado-Brown was giving her friends a ride home. "She just couldn't believe it happened," Hubbard says. "She's like, 'I'm just taking someone home from church – why did this happen'?" Police say it is possible that the arrow was launched from a picnic area behind the Independence Avenue nursing home, rocketing up high before returning to earth at a steep angle. "As she stepped out, the arrow shot her in the stomach," Rivera says. "She wanted to take the arrow out, but they said to leave it alone, that it would be worse to take it out." Police say they do not believe that Delgado-Brown was targeted. Outside the hospital, Delgado-Brown's fiancée made a plea for whoever shot the arrow to come forward. "To see a woman who was in church leave to take friends home, step out of her car, to get shot with an arrow is a horrible feeling," Delgado-Brown's fiancée, Randy Holdip, says. It could be as long as a week before Delgado-Brown is well enough to leave the hospital, and the search for a suspect continues. ===== Obviously arrow microstamping is long overdue.
