For me is the time you wasted. Not so much that what you had is gone its the time you invest with them and the things you put off to be with them. Its not one sided either they make their time for you to but you have to wonder what you did wrong to make them stray in the first place.

At least I got two awesome kids out of the relationship.

I also got a VERY clear understanding of what I will and will not tolerate.

Otherwise the last several years of it would have been a total waste.

I don't see how any of this would be different if the relationship ended another way. Borderline codependency is a lose-lose regardless.
