I ordered a Manfrotto 3021 B-Pro Wednesday night and it arrived Friday morning. Upon opening the box, this is what I saw.

    :o

At least the 322RC2 wasn't damaged.

The packaging wasn't damaged so it must've been shipped out already cracked. Let's see how good Adorama's return department/service is. :x:

Already in process. No way in hell I'd keep a busted item I haven't even used.

That is my exact same setup. I've been happy with it so far. Good luck with Adorama and keep us updated.

A good tripod will last you 5+ years so might as well buy something that will hold the weight of the heaviest lense you plan on using.

i had a 60 year old tripod, i had to upgrade to a 3011 (what is the difference between the 3011 and the 3021--isn't the 3021 heavier?) for stability. I couldn't imagine anything bigger than the 3011

The 3021 (5.3 lbs) about the same weight as the 3011 (4.9 lbs). The 2 differences I know of is that the 3021 has a min. height of 4.4" versus the 24.1" on the 3011, see pic below:

The center column can be detached and mounted horizontally, allowing for overhead shots:

is the 3021 a good tripod? I dont really need a new one but I should add it to my wish list, along with a 488RC2 head :o

I'll let you know once I get a replacement. I tested it out in the store and it's damn sturdy. The reviews on the net have been pretty good other than the weight but it's a tradeoff for a sturdy tripod.

I need a good tripod for my mamiya... it's to heavy for the tripod I've got now, so I'm curious to hear your review on this one.

I'm not too happy with Adorama's return service. 3 phone calls, 11 days later, I finally get the return label (email) for the return authorization. In the mean time, I bought another 3021 bpro because I have no clue how long it'd take them to process the busted one I received and send out a replacement. I'll just have them credit my account.

This is a beast of a thing. It's not too bad at about 5 lbs but it'll be capable of holding ~ 13 lbs. The 322RC2 head is pretty convenient just having to squeeze the trigger and be able to maneuver the camera all over the place.

Why buy a tripod that's small and only capable of holding ~ 5 lbs. The 3021 is one of the sturdiest tripods out there at an affordable price. Most of the tripod legs in the $140-300 range weigh about 5-7 lbs so the 3021 isn't any heavier than the other ones. I didn't see the point in spending $400-500 on a carbon fiber unit since I don't go trekking or long distance travels.
