So I went down to the Don Valley Brick Works here in Toronto to fool around with some off camera lighting. I've been reading A&P off and on as well as Strobist etc etc and decided to give it a shot. I broke out my trusty Hot shoe/PC adapters and my 430EX and off I went. For those who don't know...the brick works is an old abandoned brick making factory that is North East of Toronto's downtown core. A large majority of the bricks that were used to build the older sections of Toronto were produced from this factory. (map: http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&hl=e...206,-79.363571&spn=0.005834,0.009613&t=h&z=17 ) I found this old machine with the name plate "Joy" on it...and given that the building had mostly collapsed around it and that everything was dark and covered in dirt (see picture below) I found it ironic that there was any "joy" to be found in a place like the Brick Works. Anyway...let me know what you think please. The picture was taken at 1/250th @ 5.6. The flash was pointed straight up and bounced off of an umbrella. I only have the one flash...so I'm fairly restricted to what I can accomplish but I think this turned out kinda neat.
