My Athlon 1800+ is running at 1.53 GHz but idles at ~51 degrees C, is that too hot?
No, that's fine, if it concerns you that much, get a new heatsink. That's about what mine idled at with the OEM heatsink and fan.
should be closer to 45... is there dirt in the heatsink?
There is leftover pancake batter on mine. Is that bad?
I have a volcano 7 on it I think...I bought the computer used. I did a little research and I'm guessing my chip has the palamino core which is supposed to run hotter. I'm not having any stability problems so I think I'm fine.
is that 51 load or no load? If it's no load, then that's a bit on the high side imo.
i got a 1800+ (thoughbread 2 core) and it runs with my vol6cu at:
idle no case fans: 50c
load no case fans: 55c
idel case fans: 43c
load cade fans: 45c
btw i got 3 case fans. intake, exhaust, and blowhole
i got a 1.3ghz t-bird, it runs at around 67C...that sounds pretty bad..
i have an amd 2100+ with 3 fans in my case, running the amd heatsink and it runs at 39 C
Running dual Athlon MP's 2000's both idle at 45c with the volcano 7 heatsink. Try and clean up and cable clutter in front of the heatsinc so it can clearly blow of the hot air, and see if you can get a intake fan to blow towards the cpu.
mine was at 45 celcius 37 days ago, the last time i rebooted. i dont have FL4 installed now, but its running as smooth as when i first set it up.
