Is there an feature equivalent camera to the XTi from another brand?
Olympus e 510
How dare you even mention Olympus, he might actually buy one.
It seems almost everyone here would go with cannon. How do the D40x lenses fare with Canon's?
thats because canon>*. you got beef with canon?
Canon and Nikon are really the only 2 brands to consider.
They both have every lens in the world.
can't use autofocus on many lenses with the d40x...i think thats the most annoying limitation of that camera
you can use the old MF lenses though. on a canon you'd need an FD->EOS converter which doesn't really work well. plus when you buy AF-S it's like getting USM for free
You're not very limited by that feature at all. The main lens you miss out on is 50/1.8
why would anyone want to use FD?
yea and look how many people obsess with 50mm primes
i thought the d80 was the xti competitor
Those who might still have old Canon film cameras. I suppose that Nikon has more of a tradition with having great lenses back then. For example just about every 135mm f2.8 AI/AIS is a damn good lens no matter who made it and it runs from $25-50. You can also get the 50 1.4 for $150-200.
