I find anything outdoors using rechargeable NiMH/NiCd batteries really only stay decent for about a year; those batteries are good for about 500~ charge/discharge cycles at best with how cheap all those products are and... 365 puts it at about 75% of it's likely useful life.

I have a few of those LED solar tiki torches and they work great every night. Just automatically come on and still last all night after a year.

i got a 12 pack of those on woot at the beginning of the summer. they do look great and last all night long but almost every one of the cheap plastic poles has bent (wilted) after a summer in the hot sun. and it doesnt even get that hot here.
