or something like that, it keeps happening, for no fucking reason, ibook g4, help?
hmm kernel panick install any new hardware of some sort? Memory, new HD?
My macbook did that when it froze in the middle of a software update (10.4->10.4.8) and it kept panicking at startup. I had to do another clean isntall
What exactly are you doing when this is happening?
no, i haven't done anything, the only thing i can think of were some automatic updates
i DID a clean install last night, and it still started happening
hmm... wasn't there a recall on ibook g4 logic boards? Look into that on apple's support site I remember we had one here @ work that was giving problems, and Apple fixed it free due to the recall (eventhough it was way out of warranty).
i don't know, so i just take my serial number and look on the site?
edit: crap, i think it's only for G3 ibooks
how many sticks of ram do you have in it? Try booting with only one? it could be any number of things though, it's not gonna be easy/cheap to diagnose. It soundsl ike it's definitely a hardware problem... do you have applecare?
My macbook pro did that yesterday, its all factory installed, and I'm on 10.4.8
If it happens again I'm bitching at apple
my macbook is on its way to apple right now
only the G3 ibooks which had a video issues.
when you say clean install you mean erase and install right? Archive and install won't usually fix kernel panics.
yeah, i did erase and install
and i do not have applecare, and i am like, 2 weeks out of warranty
damn man that's horrible timing. Take it into an apple technician and see what he can quote you
yeah, there is an authorized place in town, 40 to diagnose, can put it towards fixing at 75 an hour, 1 week turnaround time
hey same happened to me this morning. left the macbook on for the night and this morning I was greeted by that message. wtfux.
I got my macbook on on tuesday so not much more playing around... wtfux
back to applez with it...
I should call?
i have an iBook G4. going on almost 4 years old now and still chugging strong with a 1.2 ghz and 1.25 gig RAM. I had a problem with kernal panics a couple of months ago when i had a stick or ram shit out on me.
Take out your stick and try booting and running for a while on the soldered on-board memory only.
I dunno hasn't happened to me yet.. only once but macbook is only 3 days old.
has 2gigs of ram so 2 sticks.. but I don't want to send my macbook away for repairs gah I need it wtf am I supposed to do?
If you don't have apple care, you will be charged for phone support unless you are in that 1 month time window right after you bought it, or is it 3 month? This is what an asshole associate @ the apple store told me. I kindly told him to fuck himself.
I just took it to an apple certified tech, they are taking care of it right now. And I don't have to pay a dime.
Yeah still covered I got it on Tuesday.
so I'm guessing if it happened once it'll probably happen again?
I'll call apple but I don't want to lose my macbook for a week
