I just picked up some ZMA, on the bottle they recommend taking it before bed w/o any food in your stomach and preferably no dairy, so that eliminates the cottage cheese.

Does anyone follow that recommendation and does it really make that much of a differance or matter?

mine says take before bed w/ calcium.

I've taken it on empty stomach and full stomach doesnt matter. It'll do it's thing.

However I do notice that if I add some calcium supp with it, my sleep and dreams are sooo much better.

I believe that it is bad to take it with calcium. I forget why, but I think it prevents uptake of the magnesium but I don't know the exact mechanism. So I would think that as long as you aren't getting much calcium in whatever you are eating before bed, you should be good.

the concensus has been to take your ZMA about a half hour before you do your pre-bed shake or cottage cheese or whatever

well, you are either really dumb, retarded, blind or confused because that is a qoute from the product....

For best results, avoid taking with foods or supplements containing calcium

So what are some slow digesting proteins that I can take prior to bed, that do not contain calcium?
